Proof-Positive Public Domain verification

Too often I've seen works be removed because the copyright was renewed, anewed or someone sues and you cant take chances with copyright, I wish there is a verification for public domain, but all these sites list PD on one, copyright on another, and most are orphaned works.

It's frustrating and sometimes angering when something that one thought belonged to one (or to no one), is suddenly called somebody else's. It's like they steal from me and you.

The US Congress just sits there all day and issues laws, and everybody is just supposed to follow them... What a rip-off!

That's why we insist on sources that we know have access to legal people, not sites where people just post their opinions.
If you've all these questions about copyright why not just have 1 post about it?
So we have had very few books taken down.
