pilgrims progress

....
what a disappointment.....
second time i've tried ...
second time i've failed
nothing to do with the reader,
they're just following the words on the page....
the constant bible references ..
john 3.16 etc
spoil it for me...
i've read the bible, it's good
but to me, living in the north of england in the 21st century
bunyan is displaying an inverted snobbery and patronisation
by adding a biblical reference to much of the story
in my opinion.....
"yes mr bunyan, i know the quote, you don't have to keep telling me
or are you just showing off your knowledge, which in itself is a sin of pride "
many many years ago,
i read and loved a book by enid blyton
based on pilgrims progress,
the book was for children and was called
The Land of Far Beyond
even from distant memory i remember it as a much more pleasant story than mr bunyans....
in my opinion.
