Finding the Public Domain - book

I came across this book in my PhD-ing research and wondered if anyone here had heard of it or might be interested.

I haven't read more than the blurb so far, but it's available online it looks like. could be interesting.

Interested in it for recording? We can't do it; it's not released into the PD, but has an Attribution requirement tacked onto it. (That license requires us to "You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made." We don't provide a link to the license or indicate if changes are made.)

oh, no no--not for recording. I know it wouldn't be right for that!
I just mean for reading/thinking about. since the public domain is what LibriVox is built on.

It's interesting, but aimed more, I think, at institutions with plenty of resources (including their own experts in copyright legislation). I find it most interesting in that it gives us a good idea of how Hathi Trust goes about determining the copyright status of items in its catalogue. It certainly goes into quite a bit of detail, and I was impressed to see that it included examples of international copyright anomalies such as the King James Bible and Peter Pan in the UK.

Hi,
I am not at all a specialist in copyright issues but from my naive point of view it does look quite helpful. THe fact that it is brand new 2016 is also interesting.

being European I also like the fact that it also addresses the question from a world point of view.
