It is time again to take a hard look at our long-running group projects and give them a final push into the catalog! Let's see how many books we can finish in June! Please sign up in the project threads that are linked below.
Readers: please make sure you have no old outstanding claims (click on your name in the Magic Window of a project you have volunteered for) and also try to help with recording any sections in the list below or finish that solo of yours that only needs two more chapters.
DPLs: please catch up with all your DPL commitments. Maybe there is another project that would need your help?

Important note to all BCs: Your projects are eagerly awaited by listeners! For that reason, and also because there is limited space on the Librivox server, we want to make sure that all projects move steadily towards completion.
Please look through your projects for uncompleted sections that were claimed by readers more than 2 months ago.
Post a reply in your project thread saying:
Please also edit your first post to include this info.
We want to help you complete your projects! Many thanks for your help in this!
Note that we are only including projects that started before January 2015, or those that are really close to completion.

Post a reply in your project thread saying:
"To be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, all unrecorded sections that were claimed more than 2 months ago will be orphaned on June 7th unless the claimants post in this thread before then to reclaim the section."

We haven't had a "cleanup month" in a very long time, so it's time for everybody to get working just before summer sets in and it's getting too hot to record... (For Australians: replace with winter / too cold).
I will try to keep the first post updated with the number of open sections, but please do let me know when I miss something. (Admins: Feel free to update the list.)
And now, everybody: Pick your favourite genre/language/book and read away!

You northern hemisphere people don't even realise how conditioned your view of the world is - the globe obviously should be the other way up for starters- the heaviest bit should be at the bottom
And as we are moving north rapidly the situation will only get worse

That's absolutely true, and I don't think anybody notices that. Imagine my shock when I - as European - came to Asia and saw my first map of the world, where America was placed on the right side!annise wrote:You northern hemisphere people don't even realise how conditioned your view of the world is -
Never thought about it like this...the globe obviously should be the other way up for starters- the heaviest bit should be at the bottom
At least you'll stop complaining then...And as we are moving north rapidly the situation will only get worse.

When I was reading through the "How to Become a BC" page, it said something about taking advantage of clean-up months. I had no idea what a clean-up month was, but now I know. And about the note to post in the project thread, about all claims over 2 months old being orphaned on June 7, is that only for projects that began in January or before?
I've been hoping we'd have another clean-up month - I don't think I was around for the last one!
Does the "all claims over two months old are orphaned on June 7" applies to all projects, or just the ones on the list? I have 13 BC projects, but 5 of them are fully subscribed and none of them are on the list. Do I add the notice to my fully subscribed projects (since they have claims too)? Also, in a couple of my projects I've given one or two month extensions to some readers. Do I treat the extension as a claim ("all extensions over two months old are orphaned on June 7") or do I orphan it on June 7th even if the extension is less than two months old? All my projects were started this year except The Adventures of Joel Pepper (started in November). It is fully subscribed, with only two sections left to be submitted. They are over two months old but the reader asked for an extension, which was given one month ago. Do I just leave it alone either until June 30 (when the extension expires) or until the reader submits the sections; or do I do something else? One more question: what about sections that need edits? Must they be fixed by June 7?
I realize this is a lot of questions. Thank you so much!
There are a couple of projects on the list that look interesting, but I have a bunch of claims right now in other projects so I'll see what's left when I finish those!

Kangaroo: you as BC have the right to orphan sections after 2 months have gone by since claiming. If you want to post that message in your 2015 projects, feel free, but it's not required to orphan. I orphan without announcing it all the time.
If you have 2014 projects (or earlier), once you've got orphans in them you can ask them to be added to the list.

I'd honor the extension you gave them, if I were you. If you gave them one month, orphan after that month is over. Also, in a couple of my projects I've given one or two month extensions to some readers. Do I treat the extension as a claim ("all extensions over two months old are orphaned on June 7") or do I orphan it on June 7th even if the extension is less than two months old?
There aren't hard and fast rules for extensions. Did you give a solid deadline when you granted the extension? Then I'd stick to that. Or send them a PM and say it's been a month since you extended, so you're going to give them until X date to finish up, after which you'll open it up for someone else to claim. All my projects were started this year except The Adventures of Joel Pepper (started in November). It is fully subscribed, with only two sections left to be submitted. They are over two months old but the reader asked for an extension, which was given one month ago. If the reader has disappeared, then either do the edits yourself, have someone else do them, or if the files are unusable as they are, open 'em up for a new reader. If the reader hasn't disappeared, be LibriVoxy. One more question: what about sections that need edits? Must they be fixed by June 7?

May I suggest The Betrothed DR? It's been almost exactly a year and it's got a lot of roles left. (I think this is such a cool idea!)

You may suggest it but as the MC for the project, I really don't support such a move. This is a huge project and with gender specific roles, it will take a loooong time to complete. The idea of a clean up is to get the listed projects completed in a short time; this will not happen with Betrothed.AdeledePignerolles wrote:May I suggest The Betrothed DR?
