I am delighted to report that LibriVox has been chosen as one of this year's Nominet Trust 100, a list of the world’s most inspiring ventures that use digital technology as a tool for social change.

Nominet Trust has compiled the Social Tech Guide to recognise the pioneers who are using digital technology to make a real difference to millions of lives. Each year, it brings together 100 of the world's most inspiring examples of social innovation, where digital technologies have been used to tackle a significant social challenge.

You can see details of the 100 ventures that make up the 2014 Nominet Trust 100, at http://socialtech.org.uk/nominet-trust-100/2014/.

Unfortunately the figures they quote for LibriVox are about seven years out of date and certainly not the ones I gave them, but I hope that they will put this right soon.

ETA They have now put this right .

For UK LibriVoxers, I understand that there will be a feature about the NT100 in the Weekend Edition of The Financial Times on Saturday 6th December. I will procure a copy. I don't know yet whether it will appear in the online edition.

Congrats to all!

I just submitted as a 'news tip' to Teleread.com; an interesting ebook/publishing blog that has covered LibriVox in the past: http://www.teleread.com/tag/librivox/

Do any of the admins have a 'press list' of email addresses and/or blog url contact forms? I would think that sites such as BoingBoing, Wired and perhaps TechCrunch, GigaOm etc. would be interested in "the Social Tech Guide to recognise the pioneers who are using digital technology to make a real difference to millions of lives." to quote http://socialtech.org.uk/about/

I've tweeted to Brewster Kahle (Internet Archive) and Cory Doctorow (who has publicised us in the past at BoingBoing). I don't think we have a list of contacts for PR. It would be good to develop one, at least in time for our 10th anniversary in August 2015.

How cool! And some of those other projects look pretty amazing too, it's great to see us up next to them.

(Is Iambik still a thing? - I wanted to buy something from them, but the link wasn't working and my e-mail to their helpdesk never received a response. But there is nothing on their website saying they've shut...)
So little space, so much to say.

Also perhaps @gutenberg_org ?

Another to consider: @cshirky who wrote an interesting book in 2010: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_Surplus ... I haven't read it, so not sure if he covered LibriVox. If not, he should have!

Outside of twitter, I looked a bit for mainstream media coverage (for whatever that's worth these day!). One recent: http://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2014/09/18/good-reading-for-tech-crabs/NVInYboLEObVbitm651sFI/story.html

Between being a full-time college student and working 20+ hours per week, I'm not able to be involved at LV these days, but I remain a loyal fan and look forward to a triumphant return sometime in the (probably distant) future.
