As I am more or less under control with this, I will continue to welcome contributions until July 25th.

I intend to produce a podcast on the theme of the First World War for the Centenary on 28th July. I am grateful to the many of you who have already contributed readings to the WWI Centenary Collections, and I hope that there will still be many other contributions. There is an enormous amount of material available, and plenty of suggestions here. All languages are welcome!

My idea for the podcast itself is this:
    • Readers who have contributed recordings for the collections may like to pick one or two of their readings and explain why they resonated particularly with them. Short (1-3 minute) recordings will permit me to include as many as possible, without making the podcast too long.

I shall also be inviting readers who have recorded solos on the subject in the last year to speak for a couple of minutes on these.
  1. Also welcome will be short 'In Memoriam' pieces on family members who served in some capacity in the First World War. It can be as simple as:
    • "In remembrance of my great-grandfather, [name], who served with [regiment] from [date] to [date]"
    • "In honour of my wife's grandfather [name] who was killed in action in the Battle of the Somme [date]"
    • "Remembering my great-grandmother, who served as a nurse in Northern France"
    • or something more detailed.
Please do not identify any living person in your recording, and do not exceed a minute or two (let's say 200 words maximum) for such items.

I should like to release the podcast on 28th July, the centenary of the commencement of hostilities, when I shall also be releasing the First World War Centenary Collections, so contributions to both by 21st July, please. Amended to July 25th!

Please name your files: ww1podcast_[yourinitials].mp3 and upload to my folder (RuthieG).

Regarding the podcasts, what descriptions are needed for Artist, Album Artist, etc.?

Thank you! :)

No need for any, Mary. I shall just be snipping it out of your file and putting it into mine :). Just make sure that the filename is ww1podcast_[yourinitials].mp3 so that all of those MANY files :hmm: will be together in my folder.

I recorded a bit about my solo "Menschen im Krieg" ... not sure if you can use it (I don't really know how to do podcasts), but here it is anyway :)

Thanks, Julia. I don't know anything about podcasts, but generally seem to muddle through OK, by thinking of it as a conversation with friends :).

Ruth,

Here's my (tardy) contribution. Thanks for putting this collection together. We'll have to celebrate the end of the war in another few years!

Thank you, Winston, for a very special contribution!

I have deleted the links, in the hope that others will wait to hear them in the podcast ;).
