A fellow LibriVoxer PM-ed me this link...

...to Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan who used a LibriVox recording of Siddhartha as the basis for an 8-hour long musical… er… thing.
Not sure how to describe his performance, but the reading begins a couple of minutes into the video.
Billy credited LibriVox in his handout at the show. One reviewer described it as "like a kindly English gentleman reading me a bedtime story".

I didn't last long - but it seemed like waiting for the curtain to go up at a concert for 7 year olds - only the curtain never went up
Still as long as they all had fun doing it - it was very LibriVoxy. And people who got the handout have now heard of LibriVox.
It did re enforce my belief though - large numbers of things with flashing lights and much knob twiddling does not make a performance , 1 reader and a microphone does.

For those not familiar with our "kindly English gentleman" colleague, there's a nice writeup in his local newspaper at http://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/20100306/lifestyle/100309770. Nice publicity for LibriVox, too.
