Hey,

Did you folks see John Greenman's picture in the NY Times recording for LV? A nice plug!

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/13/business/retirementspecial/older-adults-start-new-chapters-in-their-work-lives.html?ref=retirementspecial

It's built into an article about "retirement".

Cool!

Makes it sound like he makes money here, though: "...has been delving ever deeper into Twain, reading his journals and letters. 'I read in a way I hope generates interest and I just have fun making a few bucks.'"

I think the article conflated LibriVox and Iambik...the psychology textbooks are certainly not read for Librivox. :D

The New York Times is one of the most influential media outlets in the world and LibriVox being mentioned there will bring a little more recognition.

John Greenman is now on a newspaper who has made many articles, interviews, etc of Mark Twain.

We do seem to be getting an influx of new members, according to the admin who activates the accounts. :)

Hi All,

I Emailed Hugh as soon as I read the article....sorry about the edit job!!! but Iambik was left out and the resulting confusion arose!!
Anyway, this might result in a new flow of volunteers....I hope!

Meanwhile, I've put barriers in front of my door and am no longer answering the phone...referring all calls to my agent in Hollywood!
:-)

Nice photo John
Just to make it clear to casual forum visitors - everyone here is a volunteer , there are no paid recordings on LibriVox :D

I hope, eventually that the email I sent Hugh, as soon as I read the article, will be shared with everyone.
The reference to Iambik was edited out...creating the impression that bucks could be made at LV!
Grumble grumble

What a great bit of publicity! Congrats John! :D
Between being a full-time college student and working 20+ hours per week, I'm not able to be involved at LV these days, but I remain a loyal fan and look forward to a triumphant return sometime in the (probably distant) future.
