(hi catherine, that's vee, gesine and anita with internet rescources, afaik)
I'm not sure I agree about the focus being external (but I'm willing to be persuaded). I think the thing that appeals the most to the greatest number of people who hang around is the community.earthcalling wrote:Likewise, both dit and toe.Starlite wrote: Ditto-
Hi I'm Esther and I'm a librivox addict.
My suggestions/agreements would be:-
- Agree with Jim that a different person can take it on each week, bringing their own brand of whateverness to it.
- I'd say the focus should be largely 'external', i.e. stuff that might encourage new listeners and volunteers to get involved:
--- new catalogued recordings (clips?);
--- particular projects worthy of a highlight for whatever reason;
--- news items;
--- 'spotlight'-type interviewettes, perhaps by the person podcasting that week - their own 'why I love LibriVox, how I got here, what I do here' stuff.

Yes, it would be nothing to do with the chapter a week podcast.thistlechick wrote:Perhaps it was your intention already, but I think this should be a seperate podcast from our usual "chapter-a-week" podcast... subscribing to these two should be seperate from one another...
And... well.... um.... ok.. sign me up... I'm not so confident about doing a unscripted recording, but I would like to give it a try.
Start an LVwiki to keep track perhaps?
It would help us keep track of who's signed up for what as well as what has been done.... kind of like they did for the Spotlight On... http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/SpotlightOn *still wonders what happened to that*jimmowatt wrote: An LVwiki?
why?
Please forgive me. I have little knowledge or experience with wiki.
Any ideas on how we'd use it here?
Yes, that would be good.ceastman wrote:Yes, I like this idea - here's some thoughts, both repetitious and new:
- new projects begun this week, in addition to projects recently cataloguedceastman wrote:, will help new projects to get a kick start.
This could possibly help encourage someone who was thinking of taking the plunge.ceastman wrote: - one or more things from the Suggestions thread - wouldn't YOU like to start a coordinated reading of such-and-such?
Yes, this is the sort of thing I envisage.ceastman wrote: - what's being chattered about in the Music thread? The Cooking thread (which hasn't seen much activity in the last couple of months)? The Movies thread? Other 'off-topic' things, e.g. a reminder to CALL YOUR REP to tell them to vote against the evil Internet bill?
- Who's new on the LV forum this week? (e.g. Welcome TechnoWizard - just a username I happen to remember)
Keeping everyone up to date with the general chit-chat around the forums.
It is getting to the stage now where it's difficult to watch everything.
ceastman wrote: And yeah, for those of us who don't podcast, it'd be good to have someone (Stephan? Kara?) set up something where we can 'drop' the completed recording and have it just automatically go out.

The wiki bit looks good.thistlechick wrote:It would help us keep track of who's signed up for what as well as what has been done.... kind of like they did for the Spotlight On... http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/SpotlightOn *still wonders what happened to that*jimmowatt wrote: An LVwiki?

In addtion to the usual news, I'm planning to include a short interview with a LibriVox member... (I'm not so comfortable talking about myself to myself heh)

I put this link into 'juice' and the file came to me.
It's hosted on my own web space at the moment.
I don't know whether archive.org was playing up or I got in a tangle but it wasn't responding positively to my input.
Anyways
Here's the link
