I'm not sure I agree about the focus being external (but I'm willing to be persuaded). I think the thing that appeals the most to the greatest number of people who hang around is the community.
I think we should play to our strengths and put together a program which emphasises and explores that community. I've hung around Science Fiction Fandom for years and find that there's nothing the fandom community likes better than writing and talking about themselves.
That inward looking process actually strengthens the community and urges other people on to contribute even more to the community.
However, the focus would be decided by whoever does the broadcast for that week.
The catalogued clips sounds a good idea.
Highlighted projects.
Perhaps a short biographical bit by the host of the week.
I think that has to be optional though as many people are quite reticent to talk about themselves.
Maybe a spot to encourage readers to support projects that may be languishing.
Hmm, yes I like this, so any co-ordinator who wishes can send in a short audio file making a pitch for their particular project. It would be a good way of injecting life into projects needing volunteers (e.g. 3 musketeers).

It would help us keep track of who's signed up for what as well as what has been done.... kind of like they did for the Spotlight On... http://librivox.org/wiki/moin.cgi/SpotlightOn *still wonders what happened to that*

In addtion to the usual news, I'm planning to include a short interview with a LibriVox member... (I'm not so comfortable talking about myself to myself heh)

Yes, this is the sort of thing I envisage.
Keeping everyone up to date with the general chit-chat around the forums.
It is getting to the stage now where it's difficult to watch everything.

Yes, that would be good.
I'm still kidding myself that I'm writing this essay (it's the last one for my academic year in this course so I'm not allowed to be late or miss this one out so I gotta do it) so I haven't investigated the mechanics of podcasting yet.

The wiki bit looks good.
I still think first post would do it just as well so may not go the wiki route.
Hmm Spotlight on seems to have faded away. Cloud Mountain is mentioned on that wiki page as interviewer but no interviewee.
Hmmm, thoughts occur here. I'll pm Cloud Mountain.

Jim,
You can simply copy (into a text file) the librivox podcast xml, then change the info as appropriate, and upload to wherever you plan to host the xml file (does not have to be the same place as where the actual sound files are hosted). ( http://librivox.org/podcast.xml )

Upload your weekly episodes to archive.org, or wherever, update your podcast xml file, and you're set. There are other, even more automatic ways to handle it... check into feedburner.com, maybe. Though they annoy me as you seem only to be able to have a certain number of back-episodes available.

It's not hard! There is living daily proof all over the internet that any monkey can produce a podcast ;-)

Well, I've been having a play about and I think I have a podcast.
I put this link into 'juice' and the file came to me.
It's hosted on my own web space at the moment.
I don't know whether archive.org was playing up or I got in a tangle but it wasn't responding positively to my input.

If you're to be Keeper of the Podcast, you could keep the xml file on you own server and edit it to link to the other episodes, wherever they are hosted.

Very cool... any chance you could set up a page where we can see a list of all of the episodes? could be in the LVwiki (perhaps on the same page as the other Spotlight so that we can see it all at a glance?) or it could be like how Kri is doing the featured recording....

And I'll do the next episode if no one else has it claimed yet =)
