My wife and I, here in the Colonies, thoroughly enjoyed the reading of Barchester Towers by Nick Whitley. Nick’s characterizations added so much to the reading. The pompous Dr Grantley. The odious Mr. Slope. The duplicitous Charlotte Stanhope. The “Italian Woman.” All come to life through Nick’s talent.
I have just learned of you for the first time in "The Murders in the Rue Morgue." Thank you. I want to say how much I appreciate your readings. Your pace, clear pronunciation, and artistic delivery make it a joy to hear you and immediately become involved with the writing.
I am now searching for my next LibriVox choices and using your name for my search start.

Dear Mr. Chenevert,
Four of my five children (the fifth is an infant) would like to thank you for your readings of all the Oz books. They have listened to all fourteen of the ones by L. Frank Baum so far and have been completely captivated not only by the stories but by your narration of them. Thank you for delighting so many of their hours!
Kindest regards,
Alyssa
On behalf of Arthur (8), Eleanor (7), Anne (5), Roger (4), and probably Thomas (9 mos) when he's old enough
I have heard your chapters in some of the other works (mostly by Jules Verne) that I have listened to, and I have always enjoyed your chapters. I have been surprised by how outstanding your solo reading of Great Expectations was. It was capital!!!! The effort that you put into the characters voices is amazing. Thank you for the work that you have done.
I cannot wait to listen to your other readings.

Dear Mark,
I downloaded your reading of KIDNAPPED by Robert Louis Stevenson today and have just began listening to it. You gave a disclaimer in which you apologised for being an American and, perhaps, not pronouncing names accurately. I've yet to discover whether you have or haven't but it won't matter much because you have such a clear, relaxed voice.
I hope you're well there in South Carolina. Thanks for making the recording.
Just listened to your reading of Uncle Silas. It was masterful. You made the characters come alive and made it easy to overlook the writers deficiencies. Thank you for so many of your fine readings.
David - I just spent about 6 months listening to you read The Count of Monte Cristo. I've seen the movie, but never read any Dumas. I don't usually read classics as my reading speed and comprehension are so low, I really struggle with the amount of detail in them. And I also really struggle with words that take place in foreign lands because the names of places and people don't connect with my brain and make it very difficult for me to process the story.
All that to say - had I been listening to anyone else read this story, I would have stopped after about 20 chapters. Your reading of the story was so excellent, I was able to finish it. I tried to do about a chapter a day, although admittedly some days I was just too tired to focus on the reading.
Your reading voice is excellent, the recording quality is spectacular, you had great pronunciations, and fantastic and consistent voices. I am amazed at your French pronunciations.
Thank you for the hard work you did; if it took me 6 months to listen to it, i can't fathom how long it took you to actually record it.
Keep up the good work

You are my favorite reader of Sherlock Holmes! Being able to read it well is a gift! Thanks from a serious Holmes fan,
Grace
Dear Mr. Benson,
Thank you for making this gem of a novel come and remain alive for modern readers. It was such a pleasure to listen to the patient recounting of a life of virtue. The constancy and self-sacrifice of Jabez Clegg and Augusta Ashton's willingness to be chastened by her early acts of self-destructive willfulness are characteristics underrated by the present age and worthy of the full exposition they receive here. I also enjoyed the historicity of the novel and its vivid portrayal of early 19th-century Manchester. You did a very convincing job of rendering the dialect of Simon Clegg et. al.
Thanks again for taking the time to make this valuable contribution to the listeners of the world.
Sincerely,
Joan

Thank you so much for these kind words. I can't tell you how gratifying they are; you have truly made my week! I am so happy that you enjoyed the recording and found that it worked for you.
Take care, and thanks again,
Stewart
Dear Stewart Wills,
We just finished listening to your Moby Dick and must thank you. My husband was diagnosed with vascular dementia and it has affected his sight. Our son researched getting him an audio of his very favorite novel, Moby Dick, which he has read several times over his 78 years. Your reading of it was par excellence. My husband thoroughly enjoyed every chapter. He and I were both impressed with the clarity, energy, and portrayal of the characters. We always knew who was talking and how they felt. Thank you for giving both of us this gift.
Muchas gracias, Belén. Es muy estimulante el tener conocimiento de que la labor que realizamos en LibriVox es útil para personas como tú que disfrutan de la literatura clásica. El tomo III está ya en marcha. Y no, si no hay fuerzas mayores, no abandonaré el proyecto.
¡Un saludo muy afectuoso!
Montse.
I have passed this one for you, Montse! Thank you!
I just finished listening to the Faerie Queene, a very long book
narrated entirely by Mr. Copeland. This is one of the best readings I
have heard, easily of professional quality (I have listened to many
audio books from other sources such as Blackstone): clear, distinct,
and well-pronounced. The fact that he did it entirely by himself means
a huge amount of work invested, and I am grateful for it.

Dear Mr Copeland,
Just a quick 'Thank You' for providing your reading of The Master of Ballantrae. You've done and amazing piece of work!!! Just FANTASTIC. I'm grateful.
I am writing to thank Tadhg Hynes for his masterful reading of David Copperfield. This recording has afforded me many hours of pleasurable listening while travelling or being otherwise engaged in monotonous tasks! The time miraculously flies by as I am listening to his stellar, fluent reading of some rather difficult old English. Somehow, he manages to keep all the various voices and accents distinct and interesting. I am dreading coming to the end of the book! I can imagine that weariness must creep in at some points during the recording process, especially with such a long book. Thank you, Tadgh, for picking up David Copperfield again and again to see it through to the end. You have my admiration and gratitude for a job well done.

I’ve listened to David Copperfield and Oliver Twist, and I just have to say you did such a phenomenal job with those. I enjoyed every minute, and loved listening to you read them both. Just amazing.

Hi,
I enjoy listening to books driving between Adelaide and Melbourne for work (about 8 hour drive). I often listen when driving around town as well. I didn't realise that my restless lad, aged 6, was also enjoying it. He heard a big part of 'Far From the Madding Crowd' going to and from school. When I moved on to the next book, he was upset because a different voice was speaking to him. He asked me to find more books read by the same man, who'd been named "Story Man" in our family. So another fan of Thomas Hardy (the third generation, as novels in my father's hands are a fond memory of my childhood) was created by Mr Hynes.
Librivox is wonderful when there are several versions of a book, as sometimes you need to find the right voice!
Thank you very much for your excellent reading of Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B. DuBois. I don’t know how I got a B.A. in American History with a minor in America Literature and yet never read this masterful book until almost 45 years old. I’m teaching this book to a group of high school students, and your reading has brought DuBois’ beautiful, powerful prose to fresh life for me. It has significantly impacted my life. Thank you!
