This is a continuation of the original thread because a software issue seems to be causing problems with very long threads and we don't want any messages to become unreadable until we can get it fixed.
Gesine wrote:This is a thread for 'thank you' messages, both to individual readers, and to readers of group projects (of course, by extension, the thanks also always go to all others that helped produce the book - the proof-listeners, coordinators, editors, etc).

Everyone can post here to thank readers, and admins will post messages received via the 'Thank a reader' feature.

If you'd like to chime in to someone's praise, just click the 'Quote' button on the top right of that post, and type your own message underneath.
Attention readers:
If you received a thank you note and wish to thank the listener for writing it, or if there was a question in the note which you would like to answer, please pm the admin who forwarded the message to you, and he or she can give you the listener's email address unless the listener told us not to.
We can also pass on a message to the listener for you. In that case, please pm the admin who forwarded the thank you note to you with the message you would like us to send to the listener.

Thank you gloriana for your fantastic reading of Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs.

You really made me think you were Harriet, displaying just the right level of emotion. Through you I could feel Harriet's anguish at being separated from her children and her delight in being reunited with them.

I've also learnt a lot about slavery and the laws and contemporary opinions surrounding it. This is definitely a book that everyone should listen to.

(I have PMed this message to gloriana.)

Just a quick thank-you to Anita N. for her kind post on "Moby Dick" on the other "thank you" thread -- and to Ruth for posting it.

Best wishes,

Thank you Availle for a lovely reading of Madame Butterfly by John Luther Long. A beautiful, sweet, sad story, it kept me entertained on a long bus ride.

And thanks to all the readers from the first volume of the fifth anniversary collection. An interesting mix of genres and stories. All well read, and I was entertained by most of them. And thanks to Ruth for coordinating it. I'll be listening to the next two volumes sometime soon.

(I have PMed Availle.)

More praise for ahab (Stewart Wills) via the 'Thank a reader' feature:

Moby Dick
I just finished listening to the book. I think you did a great job. It seemed as if you were very familiar with the book, as your renditions of the various characters were very distinct and consistent. I had never read the book, and upon hearing it, it seems like the most brilliant novel ever written. As I have a Ph.D. in Classics, with a focus on ancient Greek poetry, I saw in the novel innumerable allusions to various works genres of literature. I thank you very much for your volunteer efforts.

Gary
Thank you for making this leviathan book available, I find such a huge sum of time wasted driving and I am now able to appreciate great literature, which I need for several university classes in American literature, and for this I thank you.

Praise for russiandoll (Philippa) via the 'Thank a reader' feature:
Hi there,
This is just a quick note to say thank you. I'm working my way through the Aeneid, and found Philippa's reading of book 4 to be stunning.
Please pass on my note to her. She nailed Dido completely! :)

Lorraine

More praise for gloriana (Elizabeth Klett) via the 'Thank a reader' feature:
Northanger Abbey

I'm really enjoying this! Thank you for doing the entire book- I love the continuity of one reader, especially one as skilled as you. Thank you.

I would like to thank Elizabeth Klett for her reading of Carmilla by J. Sheridan LeFanu. Her voice is a pleasure to listen to and Carmilla is one of my favorite stories. She really makes the story come alive. I can envision her voice as being the voice of the narrator and main character of the story, Laura.

Thank you,
Crystal E.

Thank you, Kate and Crystal! I'm so glad you enjoyed Northanger Abbey and Carmilla - I loved recording them.

I'd like to thank RuthieG for her splendid coordination of the one-act play Five O'Clock Tea:

Very funny, and the interplay between Ruth and Martin Geeson is perfect.
