My name is Ian and I'm currently studying Mandarin. I often listen to your Librivox audio recordings of Lu Xun's works for listening practice,
and I just wanted to say: Thank you! Even though, at my current level, I can only understand very few words, I still highly enjoy listening to
your reading. It means a lot to me, and helps me with my learning process, so I just wanted to thank you! 非常谢谢你!
Thomas Copeland:
Just on a lark I listened to your Orlando Furioso to see what it was all about. It was one of those old titles I had vaguely heard of. It was a great work and you did a great job with it (the translator John Harrington did a great job too. I will give him a shout out, in case he can hear). Then I saw you had done Jerusalem Delivered so I tried that too. As literature, I guess I like Orlando better, but you did a great job with Jerusalem too. I feel like I have just discovered a major area of Western literary history, that I had somehow overlooked. Once, back in my high school days I had a nasty run in with excerpts from The Faery Queen, but I see you have recorded that, and just because you did it, I have decided to give the thing another chance.
Her tempo, tone and inflection are admirable and, of course,
enjoyable. She even will occasionally have a short pause. Pauses are
rare, but so important to the enjoyment of the story.
I wish to thank you Lee Smalley. I have just finished listening to the LIbrivox book “A German Deserters War Experience”
Thanks for doing this lengthy reading. I am grateful for the tone you used; you didn’t show much emotion, and this suited the text, because the details are so gruesome that to put any great emotion into the reading would be ridiculous. I like your voice very much. Thank you for doing this work Lee. Much appreciated.
Many thanks for your work on Bible (KJV) 01-03. Your measured reading is very easy to follow and understand. Your pronunciation of unusual Biblical names seems (to me at least) to be spot on. I am sorry to see you do not read Numbers and Deuteronomy.
I wish to thank Mark F. Smith for his reading of Tarzan of the Apes; Mark does a wonderful job with character voices and I really appreciate it!
Thanks, Mark!

Dear Mr. Smith:
I just recently discovered Librivox and your reading of Huck Finn was my first selection. I enjoyed it so much. Kudos to you for your lively and charming performance. I certainly didn’t appreciate the subtleties and hilarity of Mark Twain’s genius in my high school experience of Huck’s narration. You really brought it to life!
I have listened to all of David Clarke’s Sherlock Holmes performances.
I am looking forward to his performance of Doyle’s last short story collection, “The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes”, as soon as it enters the public domain.
I did listen to this last collection by the professional David Timson.
I consider David Clarke’s portrayals superior, in that each character’s voice and national accent is accurate and discernably distinct from the other characters.
Voice modulation and inflection gives an exciting lilt to the narrative. Definitely NOT a deadpan presentation.
Karen Savage you did a great job in the book, Pride and Prejudice (Version 3). I love the way you read and your voice! Keep it up! Thanks, Elisabeth

Thank you to thank Karen Savage. She really brought Pride and Prejudice to life for me, and some other Jane Austen books. I enjoyed her version of an of Green Gables very much too! She’s wonderful.
One book I particularly enjoyed, and the reader made all the difference, was Lost Man’s Lane. Mary Bard was the reader. Her reading brought all the humor of the main character out in that book. A thank you her!
