This is quite a simple suggestion, explained by the title :D My idea is that you make it possible for downloads to be resumed, ie when you are using a download manager or opera/firefox, get disconnected or reboot, and want to continue a download. This is only really relevant to the archive versions of books as individual audio files aren't that large really if you have an average broadband connection, however archives that go into the 100, 200, and highger mb area can be frustrating to restart after a problem. I'm really not a server boff, I'm pretty much front end on the web so don't know the ins and outs, but it's just a thought :)

Yes, archive.org (who hosts our files) does not allow resumes of the zip files.

I have to resume the single audio files constantly. Either archive.org is unstable as heck, or it's one of those mercurial servers who interprets a modem as not being online.

I'm afraid the only workaround I've found is that I never touch the zip files. I cue up the single audio files.

If you have an aggressive broadband connection, you can automate the process a bit by using a firefox extension like download them all, which can be set to download all the files of certain type on a page with a single click. Warning: do not even think about trying this unless you have a huge amount of bandwidth, because it downloads the files concurrently, *not* consectively.

But there is a solution for that: just set the maximal number of simultaneous downloads to one (in the preferences) and it downloads the files consecutively.

Ah. Well, I use Flashgot and Free Download Manager, so I can resume. I only know of DTA because I've heard other people here mention it, with the broadband warning.

Have you tried downloading the bit torrents? Your choices are limited, and it takes longer, but you don't have to worry about re-downloading a million times.

A little bit related to this topic is:

2. http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=499

3. http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=435

The download-problems led to the introduction tof BitTorrents to Librivox ;) The process is still in its infancy tho.
