In May 2009 LibriVox completed 66 books.
In June 2009 we have completed 87 projects and there are still some days to come.

Number of readers: 2978 ... who have completed something: 2752
Number of completed chapters: ~ 56.000
Average number of chapters per reader: ~ 20
Total recorded time in all rss-ified works: 47070486 seconds, or 544 days, 19 hours, 8 minutes, and 6 seconds. Total of 48511 sections.

* We are very close to 2500 completed projects! Time to prepare the party!

Fresh stats will be delivered at the end of next month.

Taking an average of 20 seconds,
that's 970220 secs or 11 days of 'the disclaimer'.

Promise I'm not starting the old argument.
Just an observation from an anorak.

Nah... not an average of 20 seconds. Many poetry recordings have only "This recording is in the public domain" and newer solo recordings have "This Librivox recording is in the public domain" for all but the first chapter. A mere few seconds.

Nah... not an average of 20 seconds. Many poetry recordings have only "This recording is in the public domain" and newer solo recordings have "This Librivox recording is in the public domain" for all but the first chapter. A mere few seconds.

Apologies for not checking this out better.
Didn't mean it as a criticism by the way, fully accept the need for the disclaimer.
Just saw it as an interesting stat, if likely to stir up a much stirred hornets nest.

Another personal stat.
All I have listened to so far burned onto over 1400 cds.
Wonder how many it would take for the whole catalogue.
Must invest in that ipod soon.

Good lord!

It doesn't have to be an ipod. My little MP3 player only cost me 15 quid from play.com.

I do indeed Ruth.
Always have the current book in the cd player and often turn it on to give people a sample.
Usually get very positive feedback.
I know a couple of passengers regularly use LV now.
Once listened to, most discs go to an old folks home but many have gone to passengers.

Congratulations to Kaffen et al for #2500, and to everyone who contributed to #1-2499 (without whom there would be no 2500)!

So... we hit #2000 around Dec. 31 of last year. At this rate we should be on the lookout for #3000 next February.
