Does that mean there are about 600 projects sitting around in various stages? Or that about 600 projects were launched but never finished?

Even if the second is true, that makes about 6.4% of projects not completed - that's pretty good! If I had been asked to guess the number of projects not completed, I would have guessed closer to 10%.

EDIT: And of course it is less if it includes projects currently ongoing.

"On the horizon"? Doesn't 600 projects represent about 6-7 months? Since we seemed to hit the 1,000 project mark in December last year.

That's what I asked - so it really does mean approximately 600 projects currently on the go? Wow - the server is bigger than I thought!

Technically "on the horizon" means in the foreseeable future of which, now there have been over 10,000 projects on the server, is 10000 projects is foreseeable. The stats for December last year were only 30 days ago. And since it's around 1000+ completed projects a year, it seems that 10000 completed projects is definitely on the horizon for this year :)

I went and counted  523 ongoing in the forums (283 solos) so the rest ~77 are on hold/abandoned/waiting to launch.

That's much less than I thought. (Though I realize that you delete abandoned recordings after some time if another version exists.) What happens to those projects which are abandoned before any section is recorded?

At some point we wipe the catalog record clean and use it for another project.

Thats what happens in the new system - but in the olden days we were able to delete projects fully , so there are gaps in the numbers.
In the really olden times the projects weren't originally numbered , so at one stage they must have just numbered the ones they had - I've been trying to work out whether it was started at 1 (it was well before my time)
