Yeah, sorry Tricia, I'm an inveterate post-editor.
There's honestly no such thing as a stupid question -- but I'm afraid I can't rule out giving a stupid answer : : To Posterity and Beyond!
Mmm, no, I'd think that the on hold and abandoned projects still count in the grand total unless they have their magic windows deleted.TriciaG wrote:This 528 number also would include on hold projects and abandoned ones with some chapters recorded, and there are a lot of them, too.

Oops, Cori - you're right. They would fall under the category "part of total number of deleted projects, but not part of the number of completed projects."
School fiction: David Blaize
America Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew

Hello,
Just look at this project (ID 5234).
viewtopic.php?t=31496
Is this project completed or not completed?
Through API this project is clarified as not completed.
But the title shows [COMPLETE] .
Cheers,
Masa
I'm afraid there're a kind of database problem even thogh they're few.Cori wrote:But assuming it's 400, that does mean about 13% of solos never go anywhere.

The correct project number is 7047, 5234 is empty and won't show up in any of our searches
Anne
I can't imagine how you got there - but I have tried to block whatever you were finding - I am hoping it will disappear

That one was complete. I don't know why it was marked "abandoned" in the subject line.

It was rerecorded by the original reader. The original Magic Window couldn't be reused without everything getting very confused, hence it having two.

As Anne said, the correct number is the later one, and the earlier one should only be accessible programmatically (i.e. by going through each ID number and seeing if it has a project attached) or else via its magic window in the old forum thread. I'll put a note there, to avoid future confuzzlement.

Hello everybody,
Thank you for the clarification. I understand the situation.
I was thinking this is a Mystery by Agatha Christie, even though the author is different.
So there're cased 're-recorded'.
Does anyone know how many these cases exist?
According to my humble opinion 're-recorded' projects should be 'version 2'.
Or the mp3 files should be substituted under the same project.
How do you think?
And I happen to encoutered this case.
Cheers,
Masa

My statics & directory page was produced by this method to know running projects.Cori wrote:As Anne said, the correct number is the later one, and the earlier one should only be accessible programmatically (i.e. by going through each ID number and seeing if it has a project attached)

That surprises me, actually, because it's been so consistent over time. When this topic started 3.5 years ago, the numbers were 349 out of 2442 total, which is 15.6%. And as far as I can see from very lazy sampling, that's been about the same ever since.Piotrek81 wrote:And one more bit of info is that non-English completed projects account for 14.3% of our catalogue

And while I'm comparing with those old numbers ... abandoned solos aside, people are sticking around for more projects now.
June 2009:
Number of completed projects - 2442
Number of readers who have completed something - 2752
(0.88 projects per reader)
Nov 2012:
Number of completed projects - 6081
Number of readers who have completed something - 5302
(1.15 projects per reader)

Hmm... not sure that is a valid conclusion to draw, Cori.
1788 of those readers have only completed one section, so I can't see that they are hanging around for more projects.
Another little stat, though: 100 readers have now produced 50% of the total number of sections recorded.

The extraordinary thing is that the proportion of readers and the sections they have recorded has remained absolutely constant from May 2010 when I first did some charts, and today.
I will post the charts later so that you can see.
