I don't think I get it :hmm:
You say we're still short of 6000, but the Completed Projects sections shows 6013, minus one announcement this gives 6012. Why the discrepancy?

where did you see that number?
above, we have
Number of completed projects: 5994
edit: i got it now. well, it is possible that there are some projects in there that dont belong. the number above is pulled from the database and in doubt, that is the accurate one. so only 6 to go!

The completed projects forum probably includes the books we have had to take down because of PD queries - but I don't know how many there are or apart from Agatha Christie what they were - or if the threads were kept :D

And although it's the most boring statistic I can imagine, I'm logging it here in case I ever need it in the future, since I've been poking around with this kind of thing recently. :D

We're up to ID number 7212 in the catalogue -- which means 528 were either never used or belong to abandoned and deleted projects (almost always solos that never had any files produced.)
There's honestly no such thing as a stupid question -- but I'm afraid I can't rule out giving a stupid answer : : To Posterity and Beyond!

And one more bit of info is that non-English completed projects account for 14.3% of our catalogue

I had so idea that we had so many discontinued solos

No, it's not that many ... I think the first 100 ID numbers weren't used. And this also includes accidental duplicates and experiments.

But assuming it's 400, that does mean about 13% of solos never go anywhere. Sounds about right, from my past MC experience. It's why we go on about test files and contributions to group projects so much now. And why MCs may prefer not to create magic windows until the first file or two are in.

Many never had files uploaded, so the project database entries have been deleted. However, you can see that there are a lot of abandoned solos with no chapters recorded HERE. Currently there are 13 that fit these criteria. Those will eventually get deleted as well.

This 528 number also would include on hold projects and abandoned ones with some chapters recorded, and there are a lot of them, too. :)

EDIT TO ADD: Written before Cori posted, but the general information is still valid. ;)
