I think you may want to buy a new calendar, or return the one you bought as it's an old one... According to my calendar, the new year will be 2017

Happy New Year everybody!

Sickness related a bit later than usual, but...
The staff has picked for January - thanks for your suggestions. Please have a look at this page for the current list. You can also check out our wiki page for a plain vanilla list that contains all the staff picks for this year.

The theme for next month will be

Love and Romance

suitable for Valentines Day. I am happy about all suggestions concerning, well, love and romance - there should be lots of books in our catalog that people don't know yet, right?

Especially welcome are suggestions of plays and poetry.

Thanks for your help!
Cheers, Ava.

Marriage of convenience between two 40-ish adults, which grows into more. I loved the story - not mushy, but a lot of fun.

On of my favorite LV recordings of all time:

And another all time favorite that sort of makes fun of victorian love:

Thanks! :)

There are only 5 stories. I bet "unsuccessful marriages" would be more interesting to write about.

For the play, how about A Kiss for Cinderella - just finished. Really poignant love story . . . surprised me on many levels.

(maybe you will need to repeat this theme again, it looks like there is a lot to choose from and a lot of different directions you could take this! it will be tough to pick :) )

Drama: The Proposal by Anton Chekhov.

How much actual love is involved in this marriage proposal is a moot point... but it was a whole lot of fun.

I know the Chekhov piece - it was fun indeed, same as The Bear...

About Cinderella: I would really appreciate it if people could give a summary that tells me more than "This is a nice story called x". Makes staff-picking so much easier.
