Hehe - now that I have everyone's attention... I'm wondering why we are discriminating against our shorter works. In every article about LibriVox (or now in the LibriVox entry on Wikipedia) the books are the only recordings that get a mention. "The LV catalogue now has over X audio books." We also have lots of poems, short stories, and non-fiction short works - many more than books.
I know that for PR it's often a good idea to keep things simple, but... it might be a good idea to start publicising our other efforts as well.
Just a thought. I notice it every time I see an interview or article. It's no big deal really, but it's fast developing into a pet hate ;)
Will ask to have the Wikipedia page changed when I get round to it. :)
Discrimination
I definitely make it a point to say that we have poetry, and short stories as well as books when I talk to people about Librivox. Unfortunately I haven't been able to talk to too many people about it.Gesine wrote:Hehe - now that I have everyone's attention... I'm wondering why we are discriminating against our shorter works. I haven't been able to talk about Librivox except for my parents, and that because I subject them to it every time they come into my room.
I guess that's as good a way as any to discourage your parents from coming into your room...Bronwyn Kate wrote:I haven't been able to talk about Librivox except for my parents, and that because I subject them to it every time they come into my room.

Good point Gesine.
I think it would be more accurate to cite the number of hours of recording or even number of files/chapters (which isn't very accurate since they all very in size, but at least gets closer to an accurate quanity than number of books)
