I think the previous record was something like 40 so something is going on to bring all those guests here. Perhaps the wikipedia link snafu?

I bet you anything it's the Wikipedia snafu. We should create controversy more often! Any other places you can suggest we spam? *grin*

now we've got over 300 guests. good grief. I checked to make sure they weren't all from the same IP, in case someone nasty was trying to crash us. Looks like a wide variety of IPs, though.

That's the first thing that came to mind: a Slashdot or a Digg story.
I checked, Slashdot never ran anything on Librivox and Digg had four stories just generic description of what Librivox is, the most recent is three days old.

At the peak, the "guests" did not seem to be browsing any particular area.

It does seems that we have crashed. Were we being probed or attacked?

Ah, so that's what happened. I tried for a while, but the server was down.

Most of the folks who take the trouble to create an account are also actually "looky-loos". Don't worry about it. LibriVox will grow in its own time, and we need dedicated volunteers far more than we need traffic.

Still in all, perhaps one or two of those folks WILL become a dedicated volunteer. You never can tell from where they will come.
