Recording Jamboree!

Hey, the first weekend of the month is here! Let's have a Recording Jamboree! *cheerleaders jump around* *fireworks go off*

If everyone could get one chapter of something read, we could probably finish up a book or two.

My main goal this weekend is to finish up with Dickens -- I owe Wolvrin one chapter of Tale of Two Cities, and I owe Stephan two chapters of Oliver Twist. Oh yeah I want to do the Kipling poem too!

Tale of Two Cities section 22 - DONE
Oliver Twist 2 - DONE
Oliver Twist 3 - DONE
If - DONE
Dog in the Manger - DONE
Secret Garden ch 16 - recorded

I'll also plan to read ChipDoc's fable, and get at least two more chapters of my solo project recorded. *Whew*!

For those of you who enjoy IRC, I've started an IRC channel. Connect your client to irc.oftc.net and /join #librivox . We can chat a little and give each other some encouragement in between readings. (But we have to be careful -- IRC is the biggest time-waster known to man ;-)

Perhaps others here would start whatever other types of group chats are popular... Instant Messenger?

OK, I'm off to read some Dickens! I'm going to CLOSE my librivox browser window... but I'll check in later :)

This is great timing for me since the start of semester school stuff finally has settled down.

My goals:

DONE Weekly Poem - If
DONE Phantom of the Opera - Ch. 7
DONE Sadhana - Ch. 7
DONE Songs of Innocence and Experience - 1, 2, 3, 4, 32, 44, 45, 46, 47
DONE Richard II - Narration - Acts 1-5
DONE Ulysses Ch. 8 - first half
DONE - 8, 9, 10, 11 Huck Finn - as much as I can possibly do!
DONE Weekly Poem - The Song My Paddle Sings

Probably overly optimistic but oh well.

EDIT: Okay, so maybe not too optimistic after all!

Well Gutenberg was down earlier, so I couldn't get to my chapter of The Canterbury Tales...

Rather than simply fret over it, I took the opportunity to read If, by Rudyard Kipling over in the Weekly Poetry section. It's been a busy week, what with finishing my chapters of Origin Of Species and I hadn't gotten around to it yet.

Later on this evening Gutenberg was back online and I managed to read and upload The Cook's Tale over there.

And since I was already in a Kipling frame of mind, I also read and uploaded Gunga Din for Short Poetry Volume 004.

Of course now I'm out of stuff to read again. I think I'll pop on back into Canterbury Tales and snag another chapter or two over there. There seem to be quite a few of them. Though the language is more than a bit strange to me, the meter and pace make it a lot of fun to read.

This is going to be a wonderful LibriVox Weekend Jamboree!

Once I've made a few minor corrections suggested by Gesine, I should be able to submit the solo Present At A Hanging, by Ambrose Bierce, this weekend. DONE

Well, posting Dracula 6 right now means I met THAT goal.

I'm basically intending to keep doing the following cycle:
1. Ask for another Dracula orphan chapter.
2. Record, edit and post chapter.
...until I stop being given Dracula orphan chapters for one reason or another. Then I'll move on to other projects.
