Both the UFO and Proof that the earth is flat has got a lot of traction the last months on the channel. But it is quite common that a certain video gets semi viral during one month with a lot of views and then drops of to very low interest. The 1000-5000 hour view time videos usually stay strong and steady.
One thing I noticed is that we got a lot more views from Mexico this month and Spanish language videos made the top lists.

Maybe due more to YouTube analytics/suggestions than purposeful seeking out maybe?
Interesting. Thanks!

During September, LibriVox volunteers completed 107 projects (and 1 already in October), bringing us to 1088 total projects for 2021.

Other stats:

Total number of projects 16590
Number of completed projects 15919
Number of completed non-English projects 2032
Total number of languages 100
Number of languages with a completed work 46
Number of completed solo projects 8431

...who have completed something 11511

We should easily hit 16000 completed projects this month

Thank you for putting these reports together. I find it so interesting to see, consider, and ponder the impact we're having.

The numbers also show how effective our distribution is compared with others who are attempting to make money on our publications. Every title I've looked up shows our success at attracting listeners and their near-invisibility.

I'm surprised to see that half of our listeners are likely U.S. males over age 45. Does anyone consider this when starting a project?

I understand now why audiobook narrators in the UK whom I've met recently don't seem to be acquainted with LibriVox.

I don't.

The projects I select to record (especially my solos) come from ebooks I've produced with Distributed Proofreaders (DP) and submitted to Project Gutenberg (PG). I've only one exception (so far) and that is due to my desire to record the entire 14-book teen/young adult Baseball Joe series, of which only two volumes were produced by others (also with DP) for PG.

Those stats are only for the YouTube channel.
So they may not be representative of our total listening audience.

I don't know if there is a way to get stats on the many other ways that people listen to LV books

My criteria for BC projects vary. What interests me. What I think may be of general interest. Suitability for audiobook format.

I never answer questions about my sex, my age, my anything else to people like google so they would be using my browsing habits to work out all their wonderful statistics and as I do much of my browsing for images for the covers I have noticed that I get a weird collection of ads displayed after some hunts. So really they are just guessing and I would not really believe many of the stats they give. Though based on other things, I am fairly confident that there are a number of teenage students who listen to any book that is on their reading list :D :D :D . They may hate the book but it is better than having to read it

Ephemeral mayflies

We often hear that mayflies, like the whiteflies of the Susquehanna River, have the shortest lifespan of any animal on Earth, just 24 hours for many species.
