Hello,

I am director of the Arxiu Joan Maragall of National Library of Catalonia (Spain) and we want to start a collaborative project for to read a book of poems by Joan Maragall: Visions & Cants (https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visions_%26_Cants)

More info about the poet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Maragall

Thanks a lot,

Hi Esther,

Welcome to LibriVox! I'm delighted to see all the new Catalan projects being started these days. The forum New Projects Launch Pad is for the technical launch of projects. After you reply in this thread, so I know you've seen my message, I will move the thread to the forum Need Help? Got Advice?, which hosts this kind of discussions.

To realize this project, the following three things would need to happen:

1) You or someone else would need to take on the role of BC (Book Coordinator). Please see this wiki page which describes what this entails:

https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/How_To_Become_A_Book_Coordinator

2) We need a source that is in the public domain both in your country and in the US (where our servers are located). If it's a scan whose title page shows the publication date of 1925 or earlier, the PD requirement is satisfied. Conveniently, there are two editions on Wikisource, from 1900 and 1912, which are backed up by a scan (see "Font" at the top), though you can also use another PD edition.

3) All the contributors would need to create LibriVox accounts and submit their recordings via their account, following LibriVox specifications for software configuration and recording format.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Let's put it in Need Help?, since this is where I told Esther the thread would go.

Hi,

Finally I am going to coordinate with another team from Catalonia who will read Joan Maragall. They will prepare the Author page.
My team will read the work Visions & Cants and they another work.

The source of poems is: https://ca.wikisource.org/wiki/Visions_%26_Cants. It was published in 1900.

Myself will update recordings of my contributors team.

I am going to fill out now the New Project Template.

Thanks a lot.

Ok. I'm not sure what you meant by this, but we do need to give proper credit to the readers, so each one of them will need to have their own LibriVox reader page, which means they'll need to open a LibriVox account associated with their own email address. Everyone can use their real name or a nickname in the catalog, as they prefer.

Also, to make sure that contributions aren't rejected for having the wrong tech specs, if the readers will make their recordings on their own computer, each one should first do a 1-minute test, as described in these instructions:

https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Prueba_de_1_minuto

An experienced volunteer will then help each contributor to adjust their software set-up, if needed. The script given in these instructions was designed to contains sounds which help to diagnose problems with microphone placement, though if someone really doesn't like it, they could use a short poem instead.
