How long does a given script takes to read

Hi all,
it's a good length of time since I have read for LibriVox, so my question may have been asked before: Is there a method to ascertain roughly how long a given script takes to read. i.e. number of words to amount of time to read them?

I read recently that 100 words per minute is a good estimate for the length of a recording.

I'm under the impression that the average range is 120 - 160 words per minute.

You can pick a script, count the words (https://wordcounter.net/), start a timer, record the script with errors and outtakes and mistakes, stop the recording, note the time it took, edit the recording to a finished product and then stop the timer. You will then know how long it takes to record, how long it takes to edit, and what your reading rate is.

A typical reading rate is about 150 words per minute, 9,000 words per hour. That is, of course, the final edited length. Assume it will take at least twice that in front of the mic.

I use 150 wpm as my estimate when stating how long a reading will be. It does vary, of course.
