Hi, I am doing librivox for community service at my college and I need 10 hrs. I decided to try librivox as a way to gain those hours but I have been having a hard time of trying to start as well as understand what i'm looking for. I would like to be a proof listener but I am unsure of where to find available stories that do not already have someone who has proofed a recording. Can anyone help?

Welcome! Finding your way around can be a bit daunting at first, but you'll get the hang of it. :)

First, I should mention a fact that we tell everyone who asks about volunteer credit, which is that we cannot and do not verify hours spent volunteering, for practical purposes. So you'll need to double check with your school what they require in that department. Here is more info about that: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Misc_Q%26As#Can_volunteering_be_credited.3F

Second, here is the basic rundown for how to tell which projects need proof listening: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=22807 You can also check out the Listeners and Editors Wanted forum, where people who are actively looking for a proof listener often post a cry for help: viewforum.php?f=21 Specifically, look for topics with the words "Listeners Wanted" in the subject line.

Last, in case you haven't already found it, I also want to share with you a helpful guide for proof listeners: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Guide_for_Proof-listeners as well as some handy tips: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=ProofListening_tips_and_quiz

I hope all of this helps you, but please ask if you would like some clarification. I understand that all those links may seem like too much all at once. Don't feel like you have to read every word on each one of them. Just know that there is helpful info available.

And I hope you enjoy your time here! :D
