Hello,

I am new to librivox and am trying to save my "test" M93 file, but receiving the following message: "Audacity needs the file lame_enc.dll to create MP3s" When I tried to download Lame it says LAME is now built-in with Audacity for Windows. I did search for this file on my C drive where Audacity is saved, but could not locate it either.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello Mary,

I took a look to my Audacity installation. The lame_enc.dll is directly in the mainfolder from Audacity. Try to download the dll and copy the dll into the mainfolder from Audacity. Maybe that help to solve the problem.

Greetings from Germany.

Mary,

What is your Audacity version? Are you on Windows or MacOS? Some previous versions required the LAME encoder to be separately installed. The most recent version has it built-in except on Linux. See https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_installing_the_lame_mp3_encoder.html for some guidance.
