Service hours

I have a young person who will be reading as a part of a service component in his school's curriculum. I am expected to confirm his work and I'm wondering what the practice might be in assigning hours. Does the young person self-report? Considering the largely anonymous nature of LibriVox, I thought I might describe the work done as three times the length of the recordings. What do you all think?

I think that would be a good estimate. Is he reading for LibriVox?

If you're willing to be the supervisor/verifier/signer, you could probably include editing time in his volunteer hours, but in general we don't declare anything. :)

Yes, he did so last year, too.

It's all rather casual, or so it seems. I don't think it's a part of a graduation requirement. (I've looked at the school's Web site.) Simply pointing the school's contact to the work done seems the best course, though I will underscore that most recordings require editing.
