Hello,

I do not see the option to create a new topic.

I am half way into recording this rare literary jewel.

I have one question. My recording includes sound effects that have various types of "creative commons" copyrights. I have collected a careful database of all these and, basically, they should be acknowledged somewhere.

Any procedural advice about it?

Best,

I don't want to discourage you, only there is that thing with PD...

With the sound effects, if you want to add it at LibriVox, just forget about it. Works here are released into PD. You can not guarantee at all that the effects will be acknowledged in the future.

If you put it somewhere where you can acknowledge the copyrights, fine, got ahead, put it there.

I understand you read something and add sound effects? Are they necessary in order to understand the story? If not, you can still make a group or solo project without the effects. I'd advise you to do the one minute test and some small texts for one of the collections though first, just to get used to the workflow here :)

Oh, and why we not have the option to add a new theme is simply, because new projects are launched at the launchpad and a nice MC (MetaCoordinator) moves the project here once all is set up :)

Welcome!

I've split your question off into its own thread in a different forum. :)

I assume you put the title of the book you're recording into the subject line. But we don't see the subject line on replies, so we don't know what book you're talking about. Which book is it? Is it out of copyright?

Second thing is that we do not allow sound effects in our books, with very few exceptions. Here is information on our wiki about it: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Music_%26_Sound_Effects_Rules

I hope this answers your questions.

There is a thread/post in book suggestions about this book:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:La_punyalada_(1904).djvu
so that should be fine, it is published 1904 and the author died 1903.

Just to be sure the poster understands , yes the book is out of copyright in the USA so we could use it
But not with any sound effects.

Thanks, everyone. All understood. No sound effects.

And yes, the query was connected to the project to record "La Punyalada".

It is no problem. As I work with Audacity, I post-produce each chapter in two versions: one with and one without sound effects.

Moderation in this Forum is awesome, in any case.

Best,

Joan
