Audio books to improve English language ability

I have a close friend who wants to learn English better, and audio books as we know can be a big help.
I looked for teenage books but didn't find any, can anyone suggest some for her to listen to?

That's a surprisingly hard question to answer.

I'm not sure that works published before 1924---the greatest bulk of LibriVox's library---were written for what we would call today a teenager's interest.

There are things like https://librivox.org/the-red-badge-of-courage-by-stephen-crane/. That might be good for someone interested in the American Civil War.

If you want your friend to simply listen, without a text, there are many, many recordings of Old Time Radio available on the Net. These can be quite fun. I would look at the BBC, too, as they run some great stories from their Web site.

I bet someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in with suggestions!

It is listed as childrens book, but I think I read the "Anne of ..." series from Lucy Maud Montgomery when I was a teenager. Maybe there are other books, too?

A good way to learn also, is reading books or sections of books, and recording them.

We don't actually have a "teen fiction" section, it's included in the children genre but the series books published by syndicates I'd describe as easier English than "Anne" - they were more a type of pulp fiction - the Anne books are literature. So if people find the syndicate stuff too easy, they could move up to them.

I never knew Carolyn Keene was a pen name! I've never heard of these books, but Nancy Drew was my idol when I was young! I'll need to check some of these out.
