I see that most projects contain this language:

"Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!"

I can understand that allowing people to listen to already-recorded pieces of an in-progress project could cause server issues. But when considering a chapter of a book, say, are we allowed to preview the chapter's text using the link in the Magic Window? Or do prospective readers only preview using the full book link in the instructions?

Thanks.

Of course you can preview. The texts are usually stored on servers quite suited for massive downloads (like the gutenberg.org ones for instance).

Usually there are no links directly to the texts in the Magic Window. But when there are, they point at other sites rather than at our uploader, so there isn't a problem looking at them. (I can't imagine signing up for a section without looking at the text first! That would truly be a leap of faith!) 8-)

Thank you both, tovarisch and TriciaG. Your explanations make a lot of sense.
