I was looking into if someone released their work for PD quite recently?

Well, we do it every time we publish another audiobook. Just look in 'Completed Projects' forum.

I think the question is maybe about the text. It's a complex question to answer - USA copyright rules are that anything 1922 or earlier is PD but there are some exceptions. Probably the newest works we have are USA government publications.
