I have recently been accepted as a volunteer (3 weeks ago), but I am having a busy month. Is it acceptable to start later? i.e. What would be deemed an unacceptable period of time. Prentis

I registered for the forum and posted an introduction post, then disappeared for something like 3 months. 
You can start whenever. We do, however, recommend that you record and post the 1-minute test to get your tech settings checked out. This can be done at any time (closer to when you are actually going to record something "for real" is fine). After you've gotten your test OK'd, when you claim a section in a group project, there's a deadline to submit the finished recording. So if you're not going to record soon-ish, hold off on claiming any sections until you're actually ready to record.
