I recorded a novel with an SLP group. It’s due on Friday. Where should I upload it?

What is an SLP group?

There are processes we have in place to do projects. Usually we don't have one recorded and - pardon the harsh sound to this word - dumped on us with a deadline. :?

Is the novel in the public domain?

Okay, let's do this in an orderly fashion. Here's a step by step list of what to do:

1. Go to the New Projects Launch Pad forum and click on the "Want to start a solo recording? thread. Read through that. Some will apply to you, and some won't.

2. Go to the Project Template Generator (linked in the above thread) and fill it out. Copy the resulting code.

3. Paste that resulting code in a new thread in the Launch Pad forum. In the subject line, put "SOLO - [book title] by [author name]" and post the copied code into the body of the post. Submit it.

4. An MC will come along and check to make sure the project is OK (public domain in the USA) and will set up the Magic Window for you. After the MC has made any changes to your template (they might shorten the suggested file name, for example), make sure your audio intros and outros match what is in the template, and that you have 5 seconds silence at the end of each recording.

5. Communicate with your MC in the thread as to whether they're going to manage the Magic Window for you since you're a newbie, or whether they want you to do that. (It's the soloist's responsibility, but your MC might take pity on you.) ;)

6. Upload the files using the uploading instructions in the first post, to the folder of your MC. Copy the resulting links along with the file durations (mm:ss) into posts in the thread. Depending on who is doing the Magic Window, you or your MC will put the information into the MW.

7. Someone will proof-listen the files and ask you to make any needed changes. Do that, and upload corrected files.

8. When that's all done, and all the files are OK'd, the MC will do magic to put it into the catalog.

Hope this helps!
