the 89 db is what I want to know how to achieve. I want to do the 5 minute warm up but how to get replay gain into my audacity if I cannot find the folder location on my computer. I am not a techie guy, any alternatives? Can I not just adjust the recording or playback volume to some standard?

Hi Manway,
Perhaps Phil's video will be of help? See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz4GF3HEXV4
Also, I would advise you to record the 1-minute test, do the best you can, and post it in the forum "Listeners wanted" - then people can give you specific advise on what to improve and work with you to get things right. And who knows, you may already have a good volume!

Welcome here, manway :)

MP3Gain is an extern program, you do not need to put it into Audacity.

The one inside Audacity is ReplayGain. Where you have to store it depends on your Operating system - Linux, MacOS, Windows . http://www.audacityteam.org/download/plug-ins/ tells you where to put plugins; ReplayGain is a plugin.

Then there would be the javascript, checker (see last line of script). It is external, too. It tells you how much dB you have and you amplify for (89 - <thedByouhave>).

I don't really understand what standard you are looking for? :)

edit: crosspost with lezer :) Yes, Phils videos are wonderful. If you post the 1-minute-test you do not need to provide the raw file if your file edited is ok :)
