I'm starting a new project that should be in the public domain, having been published in 1886 by Anna Katharine Green. But I've also seen copyrighted versions of it for sale online:

Is this one in the public domain or not?

Thanks,
Chris

The original will be out of copyright. Newer editions may have been edited, incurring a new copyright.

The Gutenberg version is OK to use: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/6805
School fiction: David Blaize
America Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart
