When I try to export from Audacity, it can't find Lame.

When I search "libmp3lame.dylib" nothing comes up. I've installed it three times (the latest version) but my audacity doesn't find it. It says it can't find the mp3 library.

How do I get around this?

I've successfully submitted the one minute test before with audacity. But since installing the newest version of Lame, it's not working.

I don't know if I should uninstall and re-install the older version of Lame.

Naduplants,

May I ask a few questions? This will help us figure out where the process if going wrong.

First, it is good to know:
-what operating system are you using?
-what web browser are you using?

Next, for clarity,

So, can you walk us through what you have done step by step so we see where the problem lies?

You have saved this file to your computer: http://lame.buanzo.org/Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe

Then did you click on this file in your download folder in order to "run" it?

After I ran the .exe file, here is what was installed on my computer as far as files (and file locations - these were all the default selected by the .exe file):

Is that what you see on your computer? (two folders, one for the Audacity program, and another one called "Lame For Audacity")

I'm not sure how to insert images in here

I have a mac, operating system yosemite 10.10.5
When I download it, it is not an exe file. It's a dmg file, which I open and install.
It says "You will be guided through the steps necessary to install this software."

It installs on my computer but doesn't give me an option to put it in a specific folder.
It says "The installation was successful"

But if I search for keywords like "lame" or "dylib" it is nowhere to be found. There is no folder on my computer. It installs and disappears into the ether.

So when I export my file from audacity, again it is nowhere to be found and audacity doesn't find it automatically.

Did you try these instructions from that page?

"If Audacity does not detect FFmpeg, download the ZIP option, extract the files inside to a well known folder, then open Audacity, go to Library Preferences and configure it to search on the well known folder you extracted the files to."

http://lame.buanzo.org/Lame_Library_v3.99.5_for_Audacity_on_macOS.zip

I think the key is to extract it to a folder you can find and identify.
