Is there a You Tube that will help Mac users to implement Audacity, etc.?

Does anyone have some suggestions for safe, workable headphones to use < $100.00??

I am having a DIFFICULT time with Audacity and Lame for my Mac. I bought the mic, it's hooked up, and I thought I'd be set to do my 1-minute recording. Can someone talk me through how to set these up on my Mac computer? I tried for quite a while now, and I'd like to get started on recording. Thank you so much! - READ1

I'm excited to start reading. But these are huge roadblocks to me.

Hang in there! (I hope someone comes around that has a Mac, and can give more specific info!) :)

LibriVox's Phil (who makes videos about all sorts of things to help volunteers here) only has a video about installing to Windows (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rraizMiOf8s&feature=youtu.be).

As for headphones, whatever you are comfortable with should be fine. We recommend using headphones to check the sound/soundquality. Right now I use a pair of Panasonic headphones (~30$), but sometimes I just use ear-plugs (incidentally, the kind they give you when you do long flights), and I find that they work quite ok.

Hopefully someone more helpful will come around soon

I'm a Mac user - have you downloaded the correct version of Audacity? And do you have a reasonably recent operating system? The download page tells you what you need.

Once you have the installer, you open it and it creates the Audacity folders etc that it needs. You need to put this in your Applications folder and keep it all together! The LAME library thing needs to go in this folder also.

When you start Audacity you need to have plugged the microphone in FIRST, or it won't work. You may need to go into the System or Settings to select it.

You also need to set all the defaults like "mono" and the bit rate, etc. I think the requirements are either in your welcome email or the 1 minute test wiki.

The first time it's a bit of a hassle getting going, but once you are up and running you won't need to do it again! (Which is why I can't remember some of the details.)

Another Macophile here. It would help to know what mic and OS you're using and what specifically is the difficulty you are having. I don't use Audacity myself, although I have it installed.

I started on LV with a receptionist's combined headset/microphone from Plantronics, about $40 for both!

Hi there!

if you're not going to be specific, what the problem is, there is little hope we can be specific about the solution!
Apart from where the program and the plugin is located, I believe there is not really a difference in using audacity on a mac or a pc.
So this: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Audacity_1-2-3 is still a valid route. At which point do you encounter a problem?

There is no emailing program with librivox. For your finished recording (and the first finished recording should be the 1-minute-test: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test ) there is a page at https://librivox.org/uploader to upload it, same page as for 1-Minute test has the instructions: http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/1-Minute_Test#Upload_your_file_and_get_feedback

Cheers
