I received this in an email and wonder if someone can give clearer directions than I feel I can, as when I do it it's always trial and error till it works. (I don't do it very often and have a feeling I'm doing something wrong as it's a major pain to get it to work.)

I'm legally blind and have been looking at librivox for the first time.
Can the audio book be downloaded and then burned to cd through windows media?
If so, can you tell me how?

It should be pretty easy to burn LV audio using Windows Media. It's the default way for Windows to burn Audio discs. Click on the "Burn" tab, click on "Edit Playlist" and add the files you want to add. When you're ready, click "Start Burn" at the top right.
