What's the usual format for recording footnotes? Are they usually recorded? If so, how would the be recorded?

The reason I'm asking is because although I originally I noted on the Democracy for America thread that footnotes should not be recorded, one of our readers pointed out to me that the footnotes are actually quite substantial and not merely citations.

It varies from project to project. As for whether or not they should be recorded, only you can really decide that. I've never read the text either, so I can't give you any advice.

There are several ways you could read them, all valid.

1) Read in the midst of the text with something like "begin footnote" and "end footnote" to specify when you're reading a note.

2) Read them when you're done the paragraph that the footnote is in, in a similar way mentioned above.

3) Read them at the end of the chapter (probably only good for short chapters) in a similar way mentioned above.

I'd recommend choosing one method, and making sure everyone reads it in the same way for your project, if you decide to read them.

Thanks a lot Kri. I think I'll stick to the original plan and not record the footnotes. That seems easier to listen to. Perhaps we can do the book again at a later time with the footnotes so we have two versions. . . a footnote one and a non footnote one.

Definitely a possibility :)
