This is the microphone I use: http://www.macheaven.co.uk/?page=proddetail&prod=1062

I've used it for recording two things for librivox so far and its done very well i think. Especially as I havent used any editing software to try and remove noise.

Both mp3's are here: http://www.hoylecourtprimary.com/files/sympathy_dunbar_sf.mp3

It also looks great with a mac as it has a sort of mac styling to it.

Looks good - how big is the base?

This is the first USB mic I bought for LibriVoxing! Chris (tis) has one too. Gesine, if you make a circle with your index fingers and thumbs of both hands, that's about how big the base is, maybe a little smaller. It's weighted nicely. A very attractive mic, and if I'd known what I was doing, EQ-wise, when I was using it, I probably would not have tried all the logitech ones :)

Listening to Sam's recordings, it DOES sound pretty good.
