Hi all,
This is the first time I've BCed a project with readers other than myself, so forgive me if I'm missing something really obvious, but the blue dropdown menu, which is supposed to appear where I enter the reader's name, does not seem to exist for me in any browser. I know that everyone who has signed up for this project (Marcella) so far is a new reader, so they wouldn't be there anyway, but I've tried it with several names which should exist and nothing happens.
Does the system work if I were to just type in the name? That's all I seem to be able to do at the moment.

Dropdown menu in Magic Window
Actually...
I don't get a dropdown window either... I simply enter the name manually into the readers list. However, it would be more convenient with the dropdown...
Btw, I use firefox 3.5.5...

Excellent! I have no problem entering the name manually--I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something horribly wrong.

If I remember correctly, this feature was disabled quite awhile back due to performance problems or some other similar issue.

Good to know. I kind of thought this would be the explanation but wanted to be sure.knotyouraveragejo wrote:If I remember correctly, this feature was disabled quite awhile back due to performance problems or some other similar issue.

Is there somewhere you read that talks about the dropdown window? I thought that at some point we tried to remove all reference to it.

In the editing screen for the Magic Window, under the "Add a Reader" heading, it says "add a person who doesn't appear in the dropdown." Then, if you click on the question mark next to "reader's forum name," a popup comes up with instructions for using the dropdown as well as an image of it. Finally, at the very bottom of the screen, under the "Add Person" heading, it says, "Do not add a new person if they already appear in the dropdown when trying to add them as a reader."
As I said, I did kind of assume that this was a function which no longer existed, since a) it didn't work and b) I've never seen anyone mention it, but I wanted to make sure.

OK, maybe we DIDN'T remove the references, LOL!
