Firefox, despite my protestations, eventually insisted that I upgrade to Firefox 3. This morning, it insisted on updating itself again (I appear to have no choice in the matter).
And now, the font size on the forum makes my head ache. I am sure it is much smaller. Or is it just me? If so, I have a problem.
I now have to use the zoom option to make the font an acceptable size. Please tell me it isn't just me and my poor old eyes.

A quick fix is to do a Control + on the screen.
I haven't updated yet, so I haven't had the problem... yet.
On FF 3.0.5 you can go into Options / Content to get to the font info. If you click on the "Advanced" button next to the default font, you can change the fonts in there. You would need to uncheck the box that says something about letting web pages override your personal font choices.
I'd assume it'd be similar in FF 3.0.6.

Thanks, Tricia.
Yes, the only way to insist on a permanent minimum font size is to override all web pages' choice of fonts, it appears. And I really don't want or need to do that. Most sites are perfectly OK (I have a 21 inch monitor, for heaven's sake, and am only using 1024 x 768 resolution.)
As fink would say, "Oy vey". Back to Control +.

I'm using 3.0.6 for Vista, and I don't notice anything odd about font sizes. Also, for me, FF seems to remember my font size choices on a per-page basis. When I go to pages that I like to increase the font size for easy reading (like Gutenberg), FF automatically increases the size for me.
That said, I don't know how to reproduce this behavior. But it does exist, so I'm sure there is a setting somewhere. I'm sure there are forums online somewhere that specialize in FF who could help you.

My Firefox has also updated itself within the last couple of days and I haven't noticed any difference. (Is it the chipmunks in your computer again?)
English is the lingua franca par excellence
You can get it to not update automatically by going to Tools -> Options -> Advanced and making sure "Ask me what I want to do" is the choice selected, rather than "Automatically download and install".

I just found that (too late) But, thanks, Karen.gypsygirl wrote:You can get it to not update automatically by going to Tools -> Options -> Advanced and making sure "Ask me what I want to do" is the choice selected, rather than "Automatically download and install".

which will be released. It's available from the Mozilla/Firefox Web site.
It's what I'm using.
I also downgraded, but for a different reason. There is an obscure
bug in Firefox which causes it to use nearly 100% of the CPU cycles
(i.e., it keeps the CPU completely busy so nothing else can happen).
I had this problem in one of the first releases of version 3; it got
so bad the only way I could get back control of my PC (without waiting
for too long a time) was to turn it off. This bug affects some users
in version 2, but I've never encountered it there.
Thanks, Harvey. I am very tempted to go back to ver. 2, at least for the moment, and it's nice to know that I can.
