I'm a new user on the forum and can't seem to send a private message. Is there anything special I need to do to be able to do that?

After you have been more active here, you'll be able to send PMs. That feature is intentionally deactivated for brand new members.

I see. I actually only signed up on the forum because it looked like that was the only way to contact a reader. I don't yet have plans to contribute audio content so I don't have much to say publicly on the forums. Is there some other way to contact a reader?

If I want to pass on non-critical information that I think may be helpful to a reader, how can I do that?

Keeping the above in mind, you have now posted a sufficient number of times that you should be able to send a private message.
