Tune by William J. Kirkpatrick and James Ramsey Murray

Let's join our voices in LibriVox's Christmas choir! The goal is to get as many audio files as possible!

This song will be included in LibriVox's 2020 Christmas Carol Collection.

Instructions:

The first verse will be sung in the tune composed by Murray (well-known in the U.S.), the second verse in the tune composed composed by Kirkpatrick (well-known in England), and the third verse will be harmonized with both tunes.

Don't you think this is really too early ? It's 3 months till Christmas and the Christmas Carol collection usual starts about mid November

I was hoping extra time would mean a few extra volunteers; I think the more voices, the more beautiful it sounds. (And hey, I'm doing better! Last year I started it in July.)

I was thinking of launching the 2020 Christmas Carol Collection around November 1st. I'll save a spot for the choral selection!

You may count on a warble from me, Twinkle -- but not for about a month yet, when I'll have more free time.

It looks like it'll be interesting this year! Combining the two melodies is ambitious -- and promises to sound quite impressive!

Hooray! Thanks!

Yeah, heh heh, I believe the overlapping melodies sound well together, and hopefully everyone else will think so, too.

I'd love to do this! I love the Christmas Carols
Maybe I'll get it in on my birthday this Friday. I'd like to record a little bit then, it'll be fun

Hooray! Hooray!! Can’t wait to hear it!

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you think the melody is too high- or low-pitched. I lowered it again this year.

Here's my contribution!

I had to redo the last verse bc the changed notes were tricky at first  Tell me if it sounds too strained the way I did it though, I can always do it again.
Thanks so much!!

Yay!! Thank you for being the first contributor!!

EDIT: Your singing is so beautiful! Yes, this will definitely be fine! Were you already familiar with the England melody? You sang it as though you knew it well. I had heard the song sung in that tune a few times in the past, but I still had to take some time to learn it for this project. Hopefully it won't be difficult for the U.S. contributors to sing. And thanks for choosing to sing all the verses!! :9:

Thank you, Twinkle!! πŸ₯°πŸ₯Ί
I think I’d heard the England melody maybe once before. I’ve played piano for 8 years, though, so I was able to read the sheet music and get a pretty good idea of the notes.
Thanks again!! ❀️❀️
