Podcast: Pay no attention to the person behind the curtain!
I very much desire to produce a brief (or longer) Community Podcast. It sounds like great fun, even though a challenge.
My latest idea is to have folks record a bit about the 'real' them. From where are you recording? A studio or your kitchen table? Or do you like the acoustics under the covers? (I've heard about that!) How do you prepare? Water, vodka, snacks, a lucky hat? Do you warm up? How? How do you keep from swearing? Or do you just not restrain yourself? (There's always the editing period.) Do you like to edit? Do you fight for quiet in the house? Do your loved ones co-operate? Do your loved ones understand what it is that you do?
There is a lot here for discussion, real suggestions for improvement, laughs.
I myself want to talk about envy. How in blazes does everyone but me SOUND SO GOOD?!
What do you think?
How do I promote this?
Surely we don't have to wait until Christmas.

No, you don't have to wait, just have people interested in contributing and prepared to when the time comes. And for some reason the last few attempts have not evoked much interest.
My suspicion is that many subjects have been covered before but that is a guess. We've many threads about where and how people record and how they prepare so "older"members are less likely to be interested, but I really don't know. But you definitely need to do some great spruiking to get good contributions.
Try searching this forum for podcast and see how others have got on.

Thanks for your reply. (Hahaha! I had to look up 'spruiking'!)

i could imagine a question along the lines like: how to deal with negative or positive feedback?
i remember the case of getting angry, because one of my cover-projects got a very bad review on archive, which was totally off the charts, beyond good and evil, just false ..
and as i was using the app for some months, i discovered many many bad words and comments there, too.
and on the other hand: i got a feedback once, which is incredible, just wonderful. i try to ignore it, to be honest.
and i tried to give honest, good feedback to some of the 1 minute tests i reviewed.
and enjoyed so many, also bad quality mics, also different reading styles and so on..
librivox is offering a world of hobbies, let's talk about feedback, too.

Hello sir,
This is an interesting idea. I'd be happy to record segments for this should it get going. I'm new recording here, but have listened to many books form this site for a few years. Enjoying the experience of it all (except listening to myself...lol). Hope this can work out!!

Allow me to add one more to the chorus for hoping this idea comes to fruition and hoping to be a part of it!

If you pursue this endeavor, i will prioritize above all my other voice-lending projects. I am a sucker for vanity.

I absolutely love podcasting and got the big a few years ago with a short lived venture.
I have debated starting a podcast similar to your idea about “A day in the life of a LibriVox volunteer” or something similar.
Please let me know if you start this project; I would enjoy being involved (if I don’t start mine first).

Hey. I am looking for people to join a LibriVox Zoom chit chat meeting this evening at 9 pm CST. And this thread looks pr1omising. Perhaps we can talk about podcasts? I plan to record this, the third zoom LV meeting, (now that I know how to do it) and post it as .....? Don't know where or how the links could be posted so any advice there would help. Y'all come!

I'd love to join, but 9pm central is well beyond my bed-time. Could we perhaps have an alternate time in the US morning and Europe afternoon/evening?philchenevert wrote: ↑September 13th, 2020, 7:18 am Hey.
