As a reminder to those who may have forgotten, with all the excitement of Christmas winding down:

There are only a few days left in the year! If you'd like to be included in this special podcast, please get your recordings in to me by tomorrow or the next day at latest!

A podcast is only as good as its contributors, and I'd love your input!

Here is my contribution, as promised:

I didn't see a recommended file name, so I copied what Tricia had on hers. I feel confident that is right. :D

Thanks so much! I didn't give you a file name format, because I've never done this before! :P As long as no one overwrites anyone else, and I get the file name for the completed podcast right, I don't really care!

You could just add this to the first post:

Name your file: podcast_nye_2018_yourinitials and save as an .mp3

I don't know if this is too late, but here's a bit from me:
https://librivox.org/uploads/cori/podcast_nye_2018_mk.mp3
(length 3:09)

The first 2 1/2 minutes are about things going into the PD in 2019, and why I find myself particularly excited about the random non-famous things, often hard to find, that might become more available.
The final 30 seconds are just some idle nattering on about how I will be ringing in the New Year.
Please feel completely free to discard any repetitive and boring stuff, as I was rambling without a script.

Thanks so much to everyone who has submitted something thus far! I think I'll have to go ahead and close submissions at this point, as I have quite a lot to work with now, and only a few days left. I've got the show roughly outlined by this time, and it's time to start stitching it together.

If you haven't made a submission yet, but already have recorded one to include, please PM me and I'll see if I can fit you in.

Cori (or anyone who has done this before), how long should I aim to make this? Do we have a general guideline for min/max run time?

We've had podcasts of about an hour, but that seems to get tedious to listen to, IMHO. No real guideline, unless you want to keep it under 72 minutes like we set for the regular recordings.

Oh, I just changed my mind! I was searching for PD sound clips of a crowd counting down and having trouble finding things, when I remembered I have a beautiful crowd right here! If anyone wishes to do anything more for this podcast, please record yourself (and/or family members?) counting down from ten and ending with "Happy New Year!" (You can also do it in different languages, if you like.) Then I promise, all you have to do is sit back and wait for the finished show. :D

(You can name it nye_countdown_[yourinitials].mp3 :) )
