Not PD (yet), as it was first published in 1927, Faulkner's second novel. Ninety years old and still under copyright, tsk tsk.

Anyway, if you live in the South as I do, by all means wear long sleeves and pants (and/or anti-bite lotion/spray) this summer, and consecutive summers. I went out this morning to do a little yard-work, sans protection, and almost immediately was descended upon by a horde of vicious bugs. Most likely mosquitoes, but the resultant stings feel more like nettles or wasp-work, on my arms and neck. Calamine, anti-histamine, and cold air are helpful but I'm still itching. Skeeters have become more nasty in Florida since I was a kid; you'd get bit but it didn't last as long as the newer species, which now also carry various tropical diseases we haven't had up here since the American Civil War era.
My previous LV work: Bellona Times
