I went to this link and noticed that several books are cut into pieces. Is there a length limit that can be put into one file?

https://www.youtube.com/c/LibriVoxAudiobooks/videos

Also, if only select books are featured, who is doing the selecting? And what is the criteria?

It is nice to see our covers displayed in their full size (as they are designed). Too bad the credit for the artwork (as shown on the CD case) is not attached and there is no link back to the LV project page as there is on IA.

There is no limit per se on YouTube and initially I did not split but sometimes when After I noticed longer videos got errors after upload I found the magic limit to be 7-8 hours max and it never fails. So I went with that as I thought it long enough for one sitting anyway.

There is no selection process, everything get encoded and uploaded automatically. What the channel page is showing are the most recent and most popular (most views) videos.

I will investigate how to add credits for the artwork. It is a good point and definitely something I want to add in the description. There is a link to the librivox recording for each video at the end of the description.

It's the same with the m4Bs, they have a size limit to work and larger ones are split. And we have had trouble with big zip files not downloading correctly in some circumstances.
As for personal recognition - LV is a team product, and I am quite happy to be part of the team. I don't want my name all over something I have no control over.

There is a Danny Kaye song "Manic-Depressive Pictures Present" available on you-tube the "introduction" sums up my thoughts :D

I LOVE giving people credit for what they do. Consider it "an attitude of gratitude", and encouragement to do more. Team efforts are made up of individuals, who are certainly not anonymous on the LV platform nor should they be. I thought Danny Kaye was marvelous in this skit, and I'm sure he wanted credit for doing it.

How can I find the information who created the cover? For example starting at https://librivox.org/mists-of-mars-by-george-a-whittington/ how do I navigate my way to this information?

As far as I can see - it would be impossible using an automatic harvest. The name of the cover maker is not part of the LV database, the only way I can find out the maker is to open the pdf file and physically read the maker's name if they wrote it.

PDF are a nightmare to parse automatically but I made an effort and if it finds it it will use it, if not I will ignore it as before. I ran some tests today and it seems ok:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrTw4SPnuYo

The solution was to use a tool, https://github.com/jalan/pdftotext, to read out as much text it could find and the look for the part "Cover design by". If this is found in a sentence that complete sentence it used for cover attribution.

Just a thought. Maybe you could simply link to the PDF?
Then all the information about the cover, as well as a way to make the CD cover, would be available to those who click on it.

I don't know how many people actually look at our CD covers, much less print them out, but I always enjoy learning about the artists featured on our covers.

Did anybody answer this question? In case not, you click on the second link under the thumbnail cover that says Download CD Case Insert. It takes you to a CD cover of one design or another (there are several designs). Somewhere on one of those the "Cover Designer", or "cover designed by" is listed.

Yes I did thank you very much! If you ever want to add it to the database I could help extract this information for the existing uploads if you want into a JSON or other file format.

Thanks, I've been thinking about that, there would be problems this end which would still need to be overcome but it does give me a way to follow.
