may i ask back? is the pd status of this daisychain-image unclear?
i googled it and saw hundreds on several picture sharing sites and wikipedia claims it to be released into pd, but i cannot proof it.

It had an x in a box that said "Big Image", but now it's back. Nice cover, pretty girl!

It was probably just an Archive temporary glitch - If things become very busy, rather than grind to a halt they prioritize. So it's worth waiting a while before reporting. The backroom handling of the whole Archive project is awe-inspiring.

Christianne - preclaim made
Leanne - cover caught ...... aand linked . Great image - I can see why he painted the papers and the "pen knife" to sharpen the Quill and I suppose the red and black things are some sort of pencil type thing but the bone ? comb. It looks like a flea/head lice one :D :D .

Anne
Maybe to sprinkle sand to dry the ink - but I thought I'd seen things like salt shakers for that .

The red stuff is sealing wax, so the black thing might be the seal itself? Or is there black sealing wax?
It says on wikipedia that the letter is sealed with a bishop's seal if that helps?

I have to pass on the comb though.
Cheers, Ava.

I should have realized - I've a Japanese travelling pillow brought about 1900 which has a black ink stick and a red sealing stick in it and a brush in the space under the padded bit
